Phuthi Mahanyele-Dabengwa was appointed South Africa CEO of tech investor Naspers in July 2019 with a remit to stimulate the local start-up sector. The role aligns with her life-long passion for youth development initiatives and mentoring young professionals. Ms Mahanyele-Dabengwa has enjoyed a distinguished career in the financial sector: her previous roles include co-founder and executive chairperson of Sigma Capital; CEO of Shanduka Group; and head of the project finance South Africa business unit at the Development Bank of Southern Africa. She sits on the board of the Cyril Ramaphosa Foundation, which seeks to empower young people through education. In 2020, Ms Mahanyele-Dabengwa was ranked number 42 in Fortune’s Most Powerful Women international list.
